Brooklyn Bricks — “Building Together”

Our curriculum is based around what children do naturally with Lego – building from instructions, free-style building, and narrative play. Each camp has a theme that suggests a story and minifigures to match that story. We build together, starting with pre-designed instructions for key items and then work individually or in groups on our own designs. Then we bring it all together to create one big scene.

One of the most fun aspects of what we do is that, as well as having a very large supply of Lego, working as a group allows for the creation of really substantial scenes. Have you ever tried to build an entire Lego city? Working alone it takes a long time and can become repetitive (one skyscraper can be much like another) but if 14 of you each build a house you have a town almost immediately.

Our camps/parties are open to a wide age range, with each builder tackling the themed project at their own level and determined by their own interests.

A castle can be heavily fortified and swarming with armed guards; filled with princesses and decorated with flowers and thrones; or. alternatively, swarming with heavily armed princesses and knights who like beautiful furniture.

Because one of the greatest joys of Lego is that it is what you make it.

What People Are Saying

Here’s what one parent had to say about our parties:

We had an amazing birthday party for my just turned 7 year old daughter.
The kids had a blast and were completely engrossed for the entire hour of the class.
Z was able to pick her theme, witches and magic, from an array of options.
The kids created characters, learned how to design some cool things witches need and then got to play in this awesome little universe they created together.
The price is right and the kids got to keep something they built during the class as a party favor.
Especially now as the weather gets cold, this is ideal for an apartment birthday.
The kids were on the floor intently playing. The downstairs neighbors had nothing to complain about and when it was done Eleanor packed up her gear and there was no mess in the house.”
